Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic Dentistry

Your smile is the first thing someone notices about you. People form their first impressions based on the appearance of your smile. There was a time when, unless you made a lot of money or were born with perfect teeth, you had to live with your smile. However, innovations in dental technology have made a trip to the dentist an entirely new experience thanks to a relatively new field called cosmetic dentistry. Today, a wide range of cosmetic procedures is available to the average citizen, at a cost they can afford.

The main goal of traditional dentistry is to keep your teeth healthy and free of disease and decay. Cosmetic dentistry takes dentistry to a whole new level, with a concentration on enhancing the overall look of your teeth. With cosmetic dentistry, even getting a cavity filled can be an opportunity to improve your smile.

With advances in technology, many procedures can be done in only one visit, with little or no anesthesia. Whether you want to fix a chipped tooth or get a complete smile makeover, we can help you achieve the smile you’ve always wanted. After all, you only have one chance to make a first impression.

Teeth Whitening

Many people associate professional teeth whitening with movie stars and brides- but in fact it is one of the most popular and safest and most conservative cosmetic dental treatments available.

Your smile is one of the first things people notice about you. A white and bright smile is beautiful and makes you feel better about yourself and makes a memorable impression.

Stained or discolored teeth are very common among adults of all ages, and come from a variety of sources such as: coffee, tea, soda, red wine, etc. Those of us with stained teeth tend to brush more vigorously; this can remove enamel from your teeth, causing further discoloration and serious dental problems. Others use over-the-counter whitening kits, but they don’t have the prescription strength and lasting effects of a professional teeth-whitening procedure. The key to a long lasting, bright white smile is to have them whitened by a cosmetic dentist before discoloration becomes too severe.

Dr. Mahallati uses the most advanced teeth whitening procedures available that have been featured on many of the TV makeover shows. Whether you choose an in-office or at-home procedure, you can be sure to receive solid advice, professional care, and a smile that will knock their socks off!

Cosmetic Dental Bonding

A favored procedure for minor dental corrections, bonding-also known as composite or white filling- is a quick and affordable way to correct a variety of dental flaws such as: cracked or discolored teeth, tooth decay, or to fill small gaps.

Bonding is also a good alternative to old metal fillings.

How does bonding work?

After examining your teeth, Dr. Mahallati will select a color for the composite resin (the material used in bonding) that most closely matches your tooth. Your tooth is then prepared and a strong adhesive is applied to help the resin “stick”. Your tooth is then shaped to the desired contour filling any cracks or gaps. A local anesthetic is generally only required when tooth decay or nerve damage is involved.

How long does bonding take?

Dental bonding can be performed in a single visit, unless you’re having several teeth restored. The procedure usually taken between an hour or two. If you’re having your teeth lengthened, it might take a dew days for you to get accustomed to them.

How much does dental bonding cost?

Dental bonding typically costs between $100-$700, and the cost can vary depending on the extent of work required. Most insurers will cover some or most of the cost of bonding, especially when its purpose is reconstructive rather than cosmetic.

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in dentistry! Veneers are a very thin ceramic shell that gets bonded to your existing tooth structure. They are an excellent way to redesign and reshape your entire mouth. With veneers you can fix issues such as spacing, cracked or stained teeth, misaligned teeth, and many other problems. In some cases, veneers can also serve a restorative purpose and can protect a damaged tooth from further harm.

Traditionally this process took two visits. On the first visit your teeth were prepared and an impression was taken. The impression was then sent to a laboratory for fabrication and you would leave the office with temporary veneers. On the second visit the veneers would get bonded to your teeth and any final adjustment would be done.

With the use of computers, Dr. Mahallati has revolutionized this process and has eliminated the need for a second appointment. With CAD/CAM (computer aided design and manufacturing) technology once the teeth are prepared, a digital scan of the teeth is taken and the new veneers are made in the office from a solid block of porcelain in about 15 minutes. They are then bonded to your teeth and you leave with your final restorations. As the veneers are finalized, we will make every effort to make sure that your new veneers will feel just like your natural teeth.

With his palate of colors, and his artistic eyes, Dr. Mahallati and his staff can make sure that your new veneers blend seamlessly with the rest of your teeth for that natural looking smile. To borrow a quote from the late Steve Jobs, at Bay Dental you are “at the intersection of art and technology”.

Of course, for special cases, we may still use a laboratory to fulfill the needs of all of our patients. We only utilize the highest standard laboratories for fabrication of all of our work to ensure that your restorations are all made in the USA.

Smile Makeover

Tired of masking your smile because you don't like the way your teeth look? A smile makeover can be a big boost to your confidence and self-esteem. With a total smile makeover, chipped teeth, cracked teeth, gapped teeth, crooked teeth, stained teeth and gapped teeth can be completely transformed into the smile of your dreams. This is done through a combination of restorative and cosmetic dental treatments, including white fillings, cosmetic dental bonding, porcelain veneers, cosmetic dental crowns, dental braces, dental bridges and dental implants.
